Setting Up a Project Template in Sourcery
Creating a project template in Sourcery can streamline your workflow and ensure consistency across projects. This guide will walk you through the process. - There is a Video at the bottom of this Article.
Step 1: Create a New Project
- Navigate to your projects page.
- Click on the plus button to create a new project.
- Name your project, for instance, "Project Template."
Step 2: Customize Your Specifier View
- Go to the specifier view, your main building view in Sourcery, accessible via a dropdown menu.
- Adjust view settings to enable or disable fields and control sharing options. The default setting allows all invited users to see this view, but you can restrict it to collaborators and editors if necessary.
Step 3: Fields Control
- Through the fields control in view settings, select which fields to display. Turn off any unnecessary fields to streamline your workflow.
- You can reorder fields for convenience. While reordering is possible from the settings, it's often easier to do so directly in the view by dragging and dropping.
Step 4: Create Custom Views
- Consider creating views specific to your needs, like an export view. Start with a copy of the specifier view to avoid building from scratch.
- Rename the new view (e.g., "Export View") and adjust its visibility and field settings according to your export requirements. Exclude fields that are not needed for the export, such as product references or IES files.
Step 5: Advanced Customization
- For more advanced setups, you might create views tailored to specific agents by using tags to filter content and then saving these as separate views.
Step 6: Utilizing Your Template
- Once your template is set up, use it as a baseline for new projects by duplicating it and renaming the copy for the new project. This ensures that all your projects start with your preferred settings and customizations.
Final Thoughts
Regularly update your template with any new modifications or preferences to keep it current and maximally efficient.
By following these steps, you can establish a project template in Sorcery that aligns with your specification needs and preferences, making project setup quicker and more uniform across your team.
